An Atheist's question...

"Why does a supreme being need worship or love? If he is perfect then he has no lack. The God that you worship compares himself to a parent. If my children love someone more then they do me, I am not angry. I would be over joyed if they found someone that loved them, was good to them and that they loved. It would not anger me if my kids love their own children more then me." themaverickjester

You are right. God is perfect and He has no lack. He doesn't "need" love. You don't "need" it either. You can get along not loving a soul, and having no one love you or show you any affection. But don't you enjoy being loved? Weren't you made to love and be loved? This is because you are created in the image of God, who is love.

The day will come when your kids will love someone more than they love you. Of course that shouldn’t anger you. It should make you happy. You don’t want your kids hanging around your house for the rest of their lives.

Let’s now add something to the mix that is missing in the analogy. Would you be okay with it if one your kids spat in your face, cussed you out, said he hated you, and then raped a neighbor's child and brutally murdered her? Then he viciously cut the throats of your own elderly parents? You may still love him, but I'm also hopeful that there would be some sense of anger at his actions.

You may think that the analogy is an over-exaggeration. But it's not. This is because God is absolute moral perfection, and any sin (even in thought) is of great offense to Him. Our failure to put Him first in our affections is rooted in the sin of ingratitude. It is to spit in His face, and our multitude of sins have greatly angered Him (see John 3:36). If you would like to see how much He has been offended, and the consequences of our actions, read the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).

Something for atheists, on Sunday...

"Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, 'for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.' Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, 'Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!" And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick" (Luke 7:1-10).

This man’s "slave" was sick. So did his master undo his shackles, lash him 100 times as punishment for being ill, and then throw his still live body over some cliff? No, this wasn’t an African American who was a victim kidnapping, and of the cruel American slave trade. This was biblical slavery...nothing to do with skin color or with being kidnapping, as slaves were in American history. Biblical slavery most often came as a result of debt. If you got yourself into financial trouble, you could work the debt off as a "bond-servant." Nowadays, you can either forfeit your debt to another by declaring yourself bankrupt, leaving the person to whom you owe money, high and dry. Or you can liquidate your assets and pay off as much debt as you can.

In the past, if you couldn’t pay your debt you would be imprisoned, and held in what was called debtor's prison until you or your family could satisfy your creditor’s demands. In the middle ages, these prisons were often a large communal cell where both men and women lived in filthy conditions for months or even years. It all depended on the size of the debt. However, the Bible gave those in debt the ability to pay off their debt in time, and to then regain their freedom.

[EDIT] Matthew 7:12 says "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", showing that slavery and Christianity are hardly compatible no matter what form it takes.

So those who say that God endorses the cruel practice of slavery should study history, and see the difference between slavery in American history and the bond-servants of the Bible.

From Richard Gunther

Before any movie is made by Hollywood someone has to have an idea. This idea is then developed into a script and run by some financial backers. No movie makes itself. They all come originally from inside someone’s head, so what we see on the screen is the portrayal of a writer's thoughts.

This obvious link between a writer and Hollywood is related to the headline "Hollywood box office slump continues" which to me proves equally obvious that Hollywood is not so much interested in entertaining people as with indoctrinating them. Despite the industry’s financial losses, which it could easily reverse, it continues to ram its sick philosophies, immoral ideas and violent or twisted ideas into the market.

Take "Glee," "Black Swans," and "The Kids are All Right" for example. None of these films even cracked the top 49, but Hollywood decided people had to be exposed to the sick ideas regardless of whether there was a financial loss involved.

On the other hand "Toy Story 3" made 21 times more money than "The Kids Are Alright," which is about two lesbians trying to raise children.

Toy Story 3 made $415,004,000. This was more than all four R-rated nominees for Best Picture combined. That's a lot of money for a morally upright movie.

I think the numbers indicate that audiences are not attracted to immoral or violent movies. In the top 17 movies of 2010 not one was rated R. Obviously, if Hollywood was really interested in reversing its losses, it would make more movies with wholesome, family-friendly themes, but apparently Hollywood would rather lose money and pump filth than clean up its act and follow the higher road.

An Atheist's Question...

"Ray will it be possible to sin in Heaven ? Why or why not?" Iago

I don't believe that God created Adam with the capacity to sin "because He didn't want him to be a robot." The argument that love must be a choice, and that's why God gave Adam a free will, doesn't hold water with me, although many believe that.

Obviously, we will not be able to sin in Heaven. The Bible makes it clear that nothing evil will enter the Kingdom of God. No liar, no thief, no adulterer, etc. If that’s the case, why will we then not be "robots" for eternity? It would seem that that God is going to have something non-robotic. So why then didn't He do that in the beginning, with Adam? It sure would have saved a lot of suffering and pain.

I don’t have an answer, and I'm fine with that. Although, I'm sure that you won't be happy with that. That's because you lack trust in God. I have plenty and it will carry me through until I will get an answer to every question I have. That will happen on the other side of death.

You don't have trust in God, but you do have trust in Darwin's theory, your professor's words, scientist's beliefs, atheism, modern evolution, dating systems, history books, planes, and of course your own fallible judgments. So, transfer that trust to your Maker and He will give you everlasting life. But make sure you genuinely repent before you do so, or nothing will happen. You can be sure of that.

Racial Prejudice...

"China...China...China... Ohh that's right, China! That's the country where shark's fin soup is known to have cancer curing properties, among many other potent medical and health benefits! Yeah, they're an overall reasonable bunch... ~ Cheers!" Garbanzo Beans!!!

It's amazing that you write off 1.3 billion people because you think their medical practices are foolish. Did you know that the FDA approve drugs that come from stranger things than shark fins? Did you know that many Westerners swear by broccoli, cabbage, mustard greens, garlic and turnips as cancer cures?

Yep, the Chinese should sit at the U.S. and Canada’s feet (your country) and use maggots and leeches in medicine.[1] "A new study, which will feature in the International Conference on Biotherapy being held in Los Angeles, has established that using maggots, leeches, and intestinal worms as an alternative to the pills may cure infections and allergies. The research has been headed by Dr Ronald Sherman, an ex-infectious infection expert at the University of California in Irvine."[2]

But let's talk more your country, Canada. That's the place where you can mix up Sheep Sorrel herb, Turkey Rhubarb Root, and Slippery Elm Bark for a cure to cancer.[3] Canada also says "A simple inexpensive four herb tea that cures cancer? Even AIDS maybe? This has been a critical concern since Essiac tea was introduced in Canada during the early 1920's."[4] Ohh that’s right, Canada! That’s the place where maggots, leeches, tea, etc. cure cancer.

I think you are exhibiting the same closed-minded prejudice that will clearly shut you out of the Kingdom of God…unless you soften your hard heart.

Atheist Comments on the Death of my Friend...

"Do you ever miss a chance to use a tragedy as an excuse to proselytize? It is rather unbecoming to mine the grief and pain of others looking for material for a sermon."

"Nice morbid picture of the bicycle. Why didn't you just get his autopsy photos and post it on here. That would be much better for your fear-mongering preaching style."

"That video is a great example of Ray Comfort once again showing himself up for the parasite that he is."

"You claim he's a friend and yet you exploit his death in order to spread lies and deceit. You're despicable Ray."

"Jack LaLanne just died too Ray. What kind of ghoulish sermon can you come up with for that?"

You asked for it, so here it is:

Jack Lalanne died this week. He is the father of the fitness guru’s, who emphasized the importance of regular exercise and of juicing. For years I wondered if he would keep his great physique and his good looks (because of his disciplined lifestyle), but he didn't.

He lasted an amazing 96 years, which is pretty good. But one of my neighbors made it to 100 years and she didn't work out, loved fried eggs, white bread, cake, donuts, candy, and she drank unfiltered water. My son-in-law's dad is going strong. He's not at all into health food, and I filmed him recently dancing at his 100th birthday party.

Arnold Schwarzenegger [EDIT] said that Jack Lalanne "left the world a more healthier place." That's a nice thing to say about him, but I wonder what he meant. Two thirds of America’s population are overweight (fat), and more than a third of American adults are obese (really fat).

So, should we drink juice and work out for two hours a day? Not me. I ride a bike for 8 minutes each day, and I down half a glass of carrot juice. That's all I'm doing to extend my life. I took to heart the bumper sticker that said, "Eat Right, Exercise, Die Healthy."

Instead, I go by humanity's Instruction Book: "For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come" (1 Timothy 4:8).

Jack Lalanne worked out for two hours a day, even into his 90’s. He once boldly said of the evangelist Billy Graham, "Billy Graham’s for the hereafter. I'm for here now."

Not any more.

The Death of an Atheist

An atheist friend of mine was tragically killed just before Christmas, while riding his bike. I had befriended him after an interview, and talked to him a number of times since then about his salvation.

Take a moment to listen to what he said in the original interview about how long he thought he still had to live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F30lT5cflTw

Something for Sunday, for Atheists

"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that hears, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great" (Luke 6:46-49).

The unwise teenager knew what he wanted and he got it, only to find that his girl became pregnant. He also contracted a serious sexually transmitted disease he will have for a lifetime. The thoughtless youth thought he knew best when it came to drinking and driving, and he crashed, and killed his best friend. The gambler thought he could beat the casino odds, and instead lost the shirt off his back. The husband destroyed the trust of his wife because he thought he knew best when he was unfaithful.

Of course, many get away with adultery, don't get a sexually transmitted disease, come away with winnings, and get away with drinking and driving.

But no matter the success or failure in this life, anyone who ignores the sayings of Jesus, refusing to do what He says, is like a man who built his house without a foundation. Think of such a house. It may have large and clear windows to let in natural light, solid walls to keep out predators, and a large roof to keep out the elements, but if it has no foundation, when the big storm hits, it's going to crumble.

Maybe you have constructed your "house" well. You have plenty of light--you don't gamble, commit adultery or drink and drive. You know where you are going and what you know best...and you think it's best to stay away from Christianity.

You may be able to protect yourself from the daily storms, but there is one storm that you will not survive. That's the storm of the justice of God that will come on Judgment Day. You will crumble and fall, because you refused to do what Jesus told you to do. Don't be that person. Today, repent and trust the Savior, and lay the foundation that will last for eternity.

The end of atheism...

A number of atheists have recently told me that Christianity was shrinking and that it will vanish, and that atheism is on the rise. If that's what you think, think again. As theist Mark Twain may have said, "It ain't."

It is on the rise, big time. Millions of atheists are converting to Christianity in China. Millions. They are coming to know the Lord. How absolutely wonderful.

Meanwhile, the intelligent ones over here think that nothing created everything, that they are apes, cousins of bananas, and they don't want everlasting life. God bless the Chinese.

Stay within the law...

On January 19th the Associated Press reported that an abortion doctor in Philadelphia was charged with "eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors, prosecutors said Wednesday."

The 69 year-old doctor, Kermit Gosnell, "made millions of dollars over 30 years, performing as many illegal, late-term abortions as he could, prosecutors said." The AP said that he "induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord."

His real crime was that he didn’t murder them legally. He was supposed to cut the babies in pieces with his scalpel, rather than use scissors.

Let this be a sobering lesson to all the many money-making abortionists, to make sure they murder within the confines of American law.

Mark Twain was no Dummy...

"As Mark Twain said, 'I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.' Also, what a miserable existence you must have to see death as the biggest event in your life, when it should do nothing more than mark the end of a sequence of much bigger events. Go live." TSL

Bravely spoken. Mark Twain was a very intelligent and witty man. In a 1868 speech, he said, "God puts something good and loveable in every man His hands create." But he also said, "Faith is believing what you know ain't so," and "If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be – a Christian."

Despite his criticism for organized religion, he had a profound respect for Jesus, once telling his brother, "Neither Howells nor I believe in hell or the divinity of the Savior, but no matter, the Savior is none the less a sacred Personage, and a man should have no desire or disposition to refer to him lightly, profanely, or otherwise than with the profoundest reverence."

He said of Him, "There has been only one Christian. They caught and crucified him--early."

Men often speak bravely when things are going well. Towards the end of the 19th century Mark Twain's good fortune began to change. In the 1890s, he made some risky investments that brought him to bankruptcy. Then his oldest daughter died of meningitis, his youngest was diagnosed an epileptic, and his own health began to fail. His closest friend died, and his beloved wife lost her health and eventually died, of whom he had once said, "You are my world, my life, my pride, my all of earth that is worth the having."

The storms of life predictably left him bitter at God, saying that He was "destitute of morals," and that "He could invent the tortures and set in motion the laws and machinery which should continue them through all time without his supervision, then turn His attention elsewhere and trouble himself no further about the matter."

In time, his bitterness even changed his mind about Jesus, crediting Him with what Twain believed was the invention of Hell. He wrote "the meek and gentle savior was a thousand times crueler than ever he was in the Old Testament."

So keep in mind that when you quote the great Mark Twain, you are quoting a man who wasn't a dummy. He believed in the existence of God, but tragically it seems that he didn't have the good sense to obey Him. Hopefully, you do.

P.s.
For those who still insist that Mark Twain was a fool:

"No man that has ever lived has done a thing to please God--primarily. It was done to please himself, then God next." Mark Twain, a Biography

"Man proposes, but God blocks the game." Letter to Jean Clemens, 19 June, 1908

"God pours out love upon all with a lavish hand -- but He reserves vengeance for His very own." Mark Twain's Notebook

Take Some Comfort...

I wrote a book once, called, 101 of the Dumbest Things People Have Done. It's a funny book. Adults do the dumbest things. The book's almost an autobiography, because most of it is about dumb things I have done. But I do take comfort in the fact that I'm not the only one in this world who messes up.

One of my friends is a school teacher. Just this morning he told me that he drove his wife's van to work. As he pulled into the school parking lot he noticed that his lips were dry, so he found his wife's Chap stick and gave a liberal application to his dried lips. He also applied it a little above and below his lips. He taught the first five minutes of class with red Avon lip balm lipstick all over his face. His students finally said something.

I could easily write book two. I have the material. Ask any of my friends about an average day. I walk into walls, hurt myself, hurt other people, drop things and knock things over. Just my presence can cause things to go wrong.

I have the combined virtues of being a klutz and of doing dumb things. For example, I stood up from a couch recently while holding a plate in one hand and a sandwich in the other. Suddenly I hit the floor like a ton of bricks. Both of my feet had become caught in a comforter that was on the floor. Sue couldn't believe how fast I went down and how fast our dog downed my food.

A few days earlier we had taken our thieving canine to get trimmed. This was to be a complimentary trim because the last time we took him in he came back looking like he had a fight with a lawn mower. The groomer had cut back his ears so much he looked more like a matador than a Bichon. It was so bad I wrote a polite letter of complaint to the lawnmower lady, and she called and sincerely apologized. When she asked when Sam would need another clip, I was tempted to say that it would be 15 years, because the last cut was so close.

I wasn't excited about his next trim, but the time came when the dog's eyes disappeared into his white fur. I suspected that if we didn’t get him trimmed, we would soon have to send in a search-party to find him.

We made an appointment, and Sue decided that I should go in and personally make sure it was a free trim and that the fur-hater had been warned to cut back her enthusiasm. She wanted me to take the initiative because, as a man, I know how to do things right.

As she sat in the car and watched me take the lead and take the dog into the groomers, she noticed that I had walked into the wrong place. I had mistakenly gone into a pediatric clinic. This was no surprise to her. I was inside a little mystified as to why the groomers had changed their procedure and were having me sign in my name and the time I arrived.

It was when I was filling out the form that I heard her calling from the door "Wrong place!" The dog groomers was next door. I'm sure she would have said something more if I had come out of the place without the dog.

A little while after that, my Personal Assistant was able to secure an interview with a professor of evolutionary biology at Los Angeles' most prestigious university. He's a good researcher and is great with words. He was born in Mexico, raised in Canada, married a Russian, and lives in France.

I wanted to ask an "expert" on evolution about some of the serious difficulties I have with the theory. This was for an episode of Season Five of our television program called "Darwin, God, and the Bible."

The professor was very nice and the interview went well, so I decided to send him a fruit basket and a thank you card. I went on line, filled out all the details, and received confirmation that the order went through. There was only one problem. I couldn’t remember typing in the professor’s address. I had accidentally sent the fruit basket to myself. This was no surprise. I ordered a second basket and had this one sent to the professor.

Next week I will get a huge basket of dried fruits, some nuts, and a big thank you card for a great interview. I’m sure I will be encouraged.

A Little Sunday Something for Atheists

"For a good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks" (Luke 6:43-45)

The Bible often compares people to sheep, goats, foxes, snakes and other animals. This is because the animals symbolize the character of certain people. Jesus called Herod a "fox," and John called the religious leaders "snakes." Herod was cunning, and the religious leaders were low down nasty creatures, with a vicious bite to them. Christians are called "sheep" because they follow the Good Shepherd to everlasting life. Non Christians are called "goats," because their father is the devil, his will they willingly do, and he leads them into death and Hell.

In this passage of Scripture, each of us are likened to trees, and the "fruit" is evidence of our character. How do you know if a man or woman has a godly character? Look for the evidence of "fruit." The Bible speaks of "the fruit of righteousness." The godly will always strive to do that which is right. There is "the fruit of repentance." If they sin, they will be quick to repent. They are free from hypocrisy. Scripture speaks of "the fruits of praise" and of "thanksgiving." A godly person will give God praise and heart-felt thanksgiving for the gift of life and for the abundance of goodness that He has lavished upon us, despite our many sins.

Finally, there is "the fruit of the Spirit." If the Spirit of God dwells in someone, they will have the evidence of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, faith, meekness, and temperance.

Then Jesus explained that you can know the character of someone by what comes out of his or her mouth. This is so true. Go to any secular forum--where people can speak their heart, and you will feel like you have been swimming in a sewer. Of course, those who are already in the sewer will disagree.

For Christians Only (Atheists, please don't read)...

Never forget how you feared death before you became a Christian. The Bible says that until we come to Christ, we are "subject to the fear of death all of our lifetime." When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, God places a shield of faith in our hands so that we can combat the sharp and fiery arrows of fear. We can look death in the faith and say, "You no longer have any power over me!"

Think of two men in a plane. One has no faith in the pilot, and one does. The man without faith opens himself to fear. The less faith he has, the more susceptible he will be to fear if there is severe turbulence. However, the man with faith in the pilot will have no fear, as long as he keeps that faith.

He who lives without faith in God is open to fiery darts of terror that will pierce him to the core. I once saw a man like that as he lay on his deathbed. He was consumed with terror. It was a horrible thing to see, and my heart went out to him. He lived his life with his back turned to God, and consequently, when he needed faith most, he had none.

So when you are sharing your faith, don't hesitate to tap into a powerful evangelistic tool that is often neglected--the sinner’s will to live. He doesn’t want to die. Don't be afraid to ask him if he is afraid of dying. It can often be a relief to talk about it, because the world avoids the question.

The king of interviewers, Larry King, once said, "Death is the hardest thing to deal with, from an interviewer's standpoint because no one really knows what's going to happen, and I don’t care what anybody said, everybody’s frightened." He says that, from the perspective of a man who lives without faith in Jesus. He makes the massive assumption that "no one knows what's going to happen," when that's just not true. Christians know what happens at death. We no longer walk in darkness as do the ungodly. Our understanding is no longer darkened, because we are no longer alienated from the life of God. He is frightened, because he has no faith.

Let me ask you a thought-provoking question. What is the most important moment in the life of any human being? Is it the moment of birth? That certainly is an important moment. Is it the moment he or she is married, or the moment they arrived on a new job? Those are big moments, but the most important moment, without a doubt, is the moment you and I die. That's the moment for which we all wait with bated* and it draws closer and closer, like the ticking of an untimely clock, with every beat of our heart.

Such are fearful thoughts . . . if we have no faith. Never let that happen. Have faith in God. He is trustworthy. If you trust Him, He will be there for you at the moment you pass from this problem and pain-filled life into eternity. Until that happens, seek those who live without faith, and plead with them to get right with God. Let your heart go out to them, to a point where you go out to them, regularly.

Every now and then you and I see faith shine in this dark world. Just after the tragic shooting of 19 people in Tucson, Arizona, one elderly man died while using his body to shield his precious wife. At a news conference, his daughter had a shining faith in her eyes as she boldly proclaimed, "What a way to go home!" How true. How wonderfully true. Those who trust in Jesus don’t die. They go Home.

The Invalidation of Big Words

"As usual, your comments on evolution show that you are ignorant or delusional on matters that are open to objective investigation, which does not strike me as a reason for confidence in your subjective impressions...You've never addressed the whole question of shared, identically-disabled pseudogenes in humans and other primates, or shared ERVs (well, you have: you've indicated your subjective sense that any argument that uses 'big words' must be invalid). You've never defined what a 'transitional fossil' ought to look like, so that you could tell whether or not any existed." Steven J.

I think it's unfair of you to say that I believe that any argument that uses big words must be invalid. The use of large words has a place and can sound impressive, but its important to be cognizant of the fact that the most brilliant of teachers has the ability to keep it simple. He who sounds impressive but leaves his hearers without understanding is thunder without lightning. He leaves his hearers in the dark.

Nowadays, any fool (such as myself) can string big words together to impress and deceive the simple. All he needs is a thesaurus.

Most believers in evolution suffer from the disease of superfluity. They think that they are wise as they expound a nebulous and scientifically baseless theory as if it was truth. They are clouds without rain.

P.s. I don't believe, as you do, that humans are primates. How insulting...to primates.

The King is Dead..

Steven J....said to Sooty "And oddly, you omit rather than mock my point that Hawking’s' 'nothing' is not necessarily a contentless ontological nullity, but rather a vacuum with physical laws and properties."

If the "nothing" that Hawking speaks of is "a vacuum and physical laws and properties," it's not "nothing," is it? I shouldn't have to point that out to someone of your intellect. But in case you still don't get it, again, If it’s a "vacuum" with "laws and properties," then it's a vacuum, and it has laws and properties. It's not "nothing." Nothing cannot create anything (let alone everything), because it is nothing and therefore can do nothing.

It is disingenuous to twist words to fit a baseless worldview. Every day you are getting closer to the day when you will pass into eternity. I like you very much and am deeply concerned for your eternal salvation. You write so eloquently about the subject of evolution--when the theory is nothing but a corpse dressed by you as a king. You give it majesty, when it has no life at all. It intellectually stinks. It can’t do anything for you but give you what you believe is a license to reject the claim of the Bible--that you are morally accountable to God. And that is the greatest disservice anything in this life can give you.

If you gave the gospel a mustard seed of the incredible faith you give evolution, you would move mountains...beginning with a mountain of sin that you have between you and God. Each of us have a "multitude of sins" that God removes in an instant, upon our genuine repentance and trust in Jesus. Do it today. Please.

Read it Again Sam*...

Ray, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to call you out for this one. Ray Comfort wrote, "There are certain Bible verses that are often misquoted by the ungodly. One of them is 'Money is the root of all evil,' when the Bible says no such thing." The Bible says at 1 Timothy 6:10: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." Your thoughts? many griefs. Your thoughts? Debunkey Monkey

I wrote a book saying that Atheists don’t think. If they thought, they would know that God exists. I don’t say that to be cruel or condescending. I say it because it’s true. Denying God’s existence is like denying the existence of the sun at noon on a cloudless day. Some things are axiomatic, for those who think.

The above comment shows why atheists are so quick to embrace the theory of evolution. People who don't think don’t investigate what they believe. They also believe that the Bible is full of mistakes, because they don’t think enough to search for the truth.

The Bible doesn't say that money is the root of all evil. There's nothing wrong with money. It's good to be able to buy food for your family, and to pay your mortgage.

The world misquotes "Money is the root of all evil" and thus blames the money, when the Bible puts the blame where it belongs. On you and me--"the love of money." When we love money, we open the doors to all sorts of evil. People lie, steal, kidnap, hate, covet, and kill because they love money. So which do you love--God or money? The Bible says that it will be one or the other, but it cannot be both. You will know which one you love by what you place your trust in, for the future.

Another Mass Shooting...

As you know, over this last weekend, a crazed man shot 19 people, killing six in Tucson, Arizona. My first thought was obviously for the victims and their families. My second thought was, "Please, don’t let this be some nut who professes to be a Christian..." No doubt Republicans hoped he wouldn’t be a Republican, African Americans and Mexican’s hoped he wouldn’t be someone who hated whites, or wanted an open border. And no doubt they were relieved to find out that he was an atheist, who refused a Bible when offered one. But it would be unfair to blame atheism for this terrible crime, because he could have just as easily been any one of the above.

We only see the tip of the iceberg of the suffering this idiot caused. Old Westerns portray a hero downing gulps of whisky as a bullet is removed from his shoulder, then he’s off to shoot some more bad guys. But in reality, bullets tear though muscle, bone, and vital organs, leaving the victim either dead, or in great pain for long periods of time, never able to function the same again. Incidents like these rip families apart forever.

Still, Fred Phelps, the nut of all nuts, thinks the shooting was good. He thanks God for the shooter, saying that He sent him to kill these people, because America is evil. He called the shooting "A marvellous work in Tucson."

Again, the fact that the shooter was an atheist had nothing to do with his crime. He did it because he had a sinful nature. When a mass murderer takes the lives of other human beings, there's no need to psychoanalyze him and try and find what this man has in common with other psychopaths. He's a normal human being who has let his sinful nature run wild. He is like the Nazis, the rapists, the pedophiles, the thieves and liars. His evil actions simply confirm that God's testimony about man, is true and right.

Welcome to Atheist Church

"Judge not, and you shall not be judged: condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again. And he spoke a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why behold the mote that is in your brother's eye, but perceive not the beam that is in your own eye? Either how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in your eye, when you yourself behold not the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see clearly to pull out the mote that is in your brother's eye" (Luke 6: 37-42).

There are certain Bible verses that are often misquoted by the ungodly. One of them is "Money is the root of all evil," when the Bible says no such thing. The other very poplar misunderstood and wrongly applied Bible verse is "Judge not, and you shall not be judged." That verse is used in an attempt to stop Christians from talking about the sins of others. However, in context, this verse says that Christians are admonished against trying to remove a small speck from his Christian brother’s eye, when he has a log in his own eye. He can't see clearly when he judges. Christians who do see clearly (because they don't deliberately give themselves to sin) have a right to make moral judgments about others actions.

If someone lies, steals, murders, or rapes, we not only have the right to warn him, we have a moral obligation to warn him that he has offended God. This is because we are commanded to "warn every man," and to "reprove, rebuke, and exhort and all patience and doctrine."

Scripture says that hypocrites who stand in judgment over others will be judged by the same standard by which they judge. It is by this judgmental spirit that cults are often formed. Leaders lay down their own standards, and remove from their followers the liberty they should have as Christians. They think for them, speak for them, make their choices, and lay down the law of what they can do and what they can’t do. They are the blind leading the blind, and tragically those that lead and those that are led will fall into the ditch.

Groovy Dude...

"Ray, There is a HUGE difference between reading the Bible as an important historical document and believing that every word of the text is the inspired word of God. I actually like many passages from the Bible. I really like the Gospels. And while I do think Jesus was a real person, and a groovy dude, I don't believe he was the son of God." MollyKnits

If you don't believe that He was the Son of God, then you are stuck with the belief that Jesus was a self-deluded liar (or history's greatest deceiver) and the ultimate egotist. Jesus said that He was pre-existent. He lived in Heaven before He was born on earth. Do you believe that? He said that He was Almighty God, the Creator of all things in human form. Do you believe He was?

He said that His voice would raise all of those who had died (multiple billions), and that He would judge them for their sins. Was He speaking the truth? He warned many times that there was a very real place called "Hell," and that it had fire that would never be quenched. He said that unless you are born again, trusting in Him alone, you would end up in Hell because of your many sins. Do you think he was groovy dude when He said that?

He claimed to be the Savior of the world, Lord of the Universe, that the whole Old Testament was written about Him, and that those whose eyes saw Him and those whose ears heard what He said, were "blessed." If he wasn’t who He said He was, then billions have been deceived by Him. But not you. You think He was groovy.

Atheists Welcome...

We have started a new ministry called "On the Box."

This is primarily for Christians, but atheists are very welcome to be a part of this, because we love you :). The program began yesterday, so you missed out on the first one, but you can catch them every day from now on, God-willing. It is LIVE, 30-minutes, web-based, airing Monday through Friday, at 11:30 AM (PST).

Ustream.tv/channel/On-The-Box

One of the show's reoccurring segments will be answering questions submitted by the the viewing audience.

Towing the Party Line...

"Hmmm, interesting point Ray. Your God is a jealous God, one that demands to be first place in your life; doesn’t that sound a little selfish and self important to you? God is the life giver, but no one asked for this life, and as for being the life giver, why does he not sustain life also?...At least Satan offered Jesus something in return, God just threatens you. There's no freewill in this deal, you're in a lot of trouble is you don't tow the fascistic party line." Andy Duchemin

You will not get into trouble because you didn’t "tow the party line." If you lose your political seat because you didn't vote with your party, that's no big deal. You just look for another job. But if you die in your sins, you die as a criminal before God, and that means you will get perfect Justice--damnation in a terrible place called "Hell." You will lose your soul (your life).

Tell me, what is more important to you than your life? Before you answer, you might like to think about how you are at the moment prioritizing your love of sin more than your love of your life. Think about how precious life is.

It's important to understand that God isn't the One who will send you to Hell, in the same way a judge in civil court doesn't send a guilty prisoner to prison. It's his crimes that send him there. The judge merely sees that justice is done, and that's what God will do on Judgment Day.

His jealousy isn't like human jealousy. It's not hateful and selfish. It is a just and right intense desire for His creation to love Him. And this love for us isn't drawn out by anything in us that is desirable. He loves us because He is love itself. That incredible love was demonstrated on the cross of Calvary:

"But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us" (Romans 5:8--Amplified Bible).

P.s. Evidence of your sinful nature, is that you justify Satan, and impugn God...the One who gave you life.

A Fork in the Road...

"Ray Comfort said...'Evolution has nothing to do with science. It's a ridiculous theory that cannot be backed up with anything but conjecture.' Just like Christianity and all religions." Darkknight56

While I can’t speak for "religion," I can speak for Christianity. It isn’t like the theory of evolution, which was birthed by Darwin (it had been in gestation for many years), and kept alive by nothing but the eager imaginations of godless men. God Himself backs it up Christianity with His power. If you want to know God, you can. But you must come on His terms, not your own.

If you didn’t believe in electricity, all I need do to convince you that it exists is give you a fork and tell you to stick it into a live electrical socket. As the power flows through your quivering body, you won't simply say that you "believe" it exists. You will "know."

Such is the reality of your subjective experience, but the subjectivity of your shocking experience isn't a negative, it's a positive. All of life's experiences are subjective, and some can fool our senses. But the experience of the new birth is far more real than an electric stock, and it confirms the reality of what happens after death.

It is because the new birth introduced me to God that I know that there is an afterlife, as does every person who has turned from his or her sins and surrendered to Jesus Christ.

So you have a fork in the road in front of you. You have a choice to make when it comes to the most important of issues. Pick the fork up and stick it into the outlet, and you will get the shock of your life. Repent and trust in Jesus, and when the power flows you will no longer be in the dark, Darkknight.

Atheism Definition...

“Atheism, by definition, is a lack of belief in deities. No belief has to be substantiated by any evidence, as it isn't a true or false statement in terms of the universe. It's a personal identifier, nothing more... So, again, the burden is on the theist of any denomination to demonstrate that what they claim to be correct is, indeed, correct." Benjamin

According to "Word Origin & History" on the Online Etymology Dictionary, the word "atheism" originated in the 1580's, comes from the French word "athéisme," which came from the Greek word "atheos," which means "without god". An atheist is someone who is without God; and he certainly is.

The modern believer in atheism is like a man who believes that there was no painter as he looks at a painting. He says, "I have no belief that there was a painter." But he can't get away from faith. He believes that there is no evidence for a painter. That's his belief. That's faith.

There's no burden on theists to prove that God exists. We don't need to convince anyone that God exists, because we all know it intuitively. He is just a fool (as the Bible calls him) who denies his God-given knowledge, because he doesn't like the thought of having moral responsibility.

So my agenda isn't to prove that God exists to anyone. The only reason I so often use the "building, therefore a builder" and the "painting, therefore a painter" thought, is to show the stupidity of atheism.

My agenda is to make clear to this sin-loving world (atheists included) that they have sinned against God, and desperately need a Savior because Hell is a very real place. Atheism is just further evidence of the rebellious nature of humanity.

Hitler and God

"Oh, there it is right there. He told General Gerhart Engel: "I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so." Why would you post a quote that directly supports my point?" Me

My apologies for not explaining myself more clearly. Adolf Hitler hated Christianity. He also hated the Bible, banned them, and had 100,000 copies of his own version printed--one that excluded the Old Testament.1

He created a false image of Jesus, saying that He wasn't a Jew but an Arian. He sent Protestant pastors (Christians) to concentration camps, and replaced them with fake (Nazi) pastors. He said of them:

“I'll make these [damn-d] parsons feel the power of the state in a way they would have never believed possible. For the moment, I am just keeping my eye upon them: if I ever have the slightest suspicion that they are getting dangerous, I will shoot the lot of them. This filthy reptile raises its head whenever there is a sign of weakness in the State, and therefore it must be stamped on. We have no sort of use for a fairy story invented by the Jews.”2

He also hated the Ten Commandments, and created 12 of his own. As you know, he hated the Jews and slaughtered six million of them.

Hitler believed he was a Christian because he was a Catholic, but Christians love the Bible, love Jesus, love Jews, love their enemies, and they do good to those who despitefully use them.

Again, though it may be hard for you to understand, Hitler was a Roman Catholic who hated Christianity. There is a huge difference between the two. This failure to understand may be because you would like them to be one in the same, as it gives you what you think is a good reason to reject Christianity.

Know Your History...

"Hitler was a Christian. He will be in heaven.…In the new year, Christians, I urge you to engage with your belief system openly and honestly, and that means without your God glasses on, and examine some of the conclusions it forces you to accept. My hope for you all is that that exploration will enable you to free yourself from your shackles of dogmatism and misinformation, and stop lining the pockets of charletan (sic) snake oil salesmen like Ray Comfort." Me

Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s minister of propaganda, noted in his diary in 1939:

"The Fuehrer is deeply religious, but deeply anti-Christian. He regards Christianity as a symptom of decay. Rightly so. It is a branch of the Jewish race."

William Shirer was an American journalist, war correspondent, and historian, who wrote The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich a groundbreaking history of Nazi Germany, in chronicling the Nazi regime wrote concerning the Nazi strategy:

"The Nazi regime intended eventually to destroy Christianity in Germany, if it could, and substitute the old paganism of the early tribal Germanic gods and the new paganism of the Nazi extremists. As Bormann, one of the men closest to Hitler, said publicly in 1941, 'National Socialism and Christianity are irreconcilable.'"

He told General Gerhart Engel: "I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so."1.
